There are many reasons why apps are taken down, such as disturbing the order of the App Store, sensitive content, infringement disputes, and inducing user behavior. However, there is another factor that developers often overlook. Besides the problems with the App itself, the developer account also has a definite influence on the status of the App. In this issue, we will take you deeper into the information of Apple Developer Membership.

Apple Developer Program
The Apple Developer Program is a membership-based service for organizations, individuals, and sole proprietorships/single-person limited liability companies interested in creating apps for distribution on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. Membership includes access to Beta OS releases and advanced App features, tools to develop, test and distribute Apps, and Safari browser extensions.
This means that a developer account can only remain active and continue to receive membership benefits if the developer account has membership status. According to Apple, once a developer account membership expires, apps under that account will not be available for download, nor will new apps or updates be submitted. In addition, access to pre-release software, Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, and Technical Support Incident will be lost. However, users who have completed an installation or download will still be able to use the App as normal.
If your Apple Developer Enterprise account has expired, the App will no longer be available for download and those who have completed the installation or download will no longer be able to use the App, so it is important that you renew your membership in a timely manner so that the App is not affected.
How to renew your annual membership
Developers need to renew their membership within 30 days prior to the expiration date of their current membership, or at any time after it expires. The expiration date of the membership is displayed in your account on the developer’s website.
To renew, first log in to your account using the Apple ID you used to sign up, then tap the Renew Membership button. If the membership is still valid at the time of renewal, the new member will be activated as soon as the current membership expires and you will receive two new TSIs.
Next, follow the website prompts to fill out the information required. When you get to the credit card information, note that if you do not have a U.S. credit card, then, unfortunately, you will not be able to pay online. So, developers need to be prepared in advance.
Once you have filled in all the information, you need to wait for the credit card charge reminder. After the charge, you log in to your developer account and find that it still hasn’t been renewed successfully and still says that it expires in xx days as stated above.
At this point, you need to go to your registered email address and see if there are 2 emails from Apple. One is the chargeback bill and the other is the Apple account activation code. Go to the link in that email, enter the activation code, and renew successfully.
If your membership has expired at the time of renewal, the renewal will be activated as soon as you complete the renewal process, and all free apps previously available for download will become available again within 24 hours.
After you sign in to App Store Connect (formerly ITC Back Office) and sign a paid app contract, all previously available paid apps will become available for download again.
Renewing Your Organization’s Membership
If you have registered as an organization for Apple Developer Membership, you will need to have a Team Agent (someone assigned the “Legal” role in the Developer Back Office) complete the membership renewal on behalf of your organization. Contact information for the Team Agent can be found in the People section of your account.
If you are a Team Agent or Administrator, you will be granted the appropriate permissions at the beginning of the new membership year to remove the listed test devices and reset the available device count to 100 when you first log in to “Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles”.
Before adding any new devices, be sure to remove all devices that will not be used during development, as you will not be able to remove devices after adding new ones.
Finally, developers are reminded that they cannot change their My Account during the renewal process. Account changes must be made after the renewal process is complete, such as transferring the role of Team Agent or converting an individual membership to an organizational membership.
